Insurance first 
Proof of liability insurance is required before submitting an initial license application. 

What are other initial licensing requirements in my state? 
Obtain 600 education hours, pass a Board-approved exam (MBLEx, NBTCMB, or ABTE), submit proof of liability insurance.

What are the licensing renewal requirements in my state?
Licenses must be renewed every odd-numbered year. Show proof of 24 hours of CE. Two CE hours must be in ethics.

Under the current law, a person who is not certified as a massage therapist or bodyworker by the Department of Regulation and Licensing may not designate himself/herself as a massage therapist or bodyworker. The passage of AB 588 will make it mandatory for massage and bodywork therapists to be licensed by the state in order to practice, essentially changing the law from title protection to a mandatory practice act.
