Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen has proposed sweeping tax reforms for the state, and massage therapy is at risk of being unfairly taxed because of it. Massage therapists will be required to start remitting sales tax for the first time since 1986 if this tax reform plan is passed as written. Reach out to the governor and your state senators and request massage therapy to be removed from Governor Pillen's proposed list of tax exemption eliminations.

Nebraska shows support for massage licensure portability and you can too. Send a letter to your representatives today!

The Nebraska legislature introduced Legislative Bill 280, the Massage Compact, in January 2023. The bill will make it easier for licensed massage therapists to work in other jurisdictions. If you believe an interstate license would benefit massage therapists, write a letter to your representatives.

The Nebraska Administrative Code was updated and continuing education hours were amended. Previously, Nebraska massage therapists had to complete 24 hours of CE. The new rule only requires 16 hours of CE and is effective June 7, 2021.
